Today was the 3rd Annual Heart and Sole Run/Walk. It's a 5K race to benefit the MCG Children's Medical Center.

More than 700 people came out to show their support. Some walked and some ran.

News 12 even had a few runners out there all for a good cause.

"Anytime you can run for a cause it's important and I'm trying to get in shape, so you know what this helps," News 12's Sports Reporter Matt Barnes said.

"My sister had a child that passed away to a heart condition and so I felt a need to come back and give back so, I created this," Stacey Haskins, founder of Heart and Sole, Inc., said.

"She lived a quick life, but it was a life that changed our lives in a better way so we're just thankful for the people here at MCG and we also just wanted to give back to the community a little bit," Benjamin McElreath, whose daughter died of heart disease, said.

Last year they raised $30,000 for various heart programs at MCG. Since there was a higher turnout this year they are hopeful that number will go up even higher.
