Today was the 3rd Annual Heart and Sole Run/Walk. It's a 5K race to benefit the MCG Children's Medical Center.
More than 700 people came out to show their support. Some walked and some ran.
News 12 even had a few runners out there all for a good cause.
Benefit walk shows community's concern
About 1,000 people poured out their hearts Saturday in support of Heart and Sole Inc.'s second annual 5K Run/Walk and Evening Celebration.
"The community totally came out. I thought it was pretty amazing to see so many people support this," founder Stacey Haskins said. "We had about 600 people register for the 5K, and then about 400 people attended the evening celebration.
Events battle heart disease in children
Heart and Sole Inc. will hold its third annual 5K Run/Walk and Evening Celebration on March 7.
"My goal this year is to get more people involved," said Stacey Haskins. "I want to reach out to other areas in the CSRA and get the message out about what we do and why they should get involved."
Ms. Haskins founded Heart and Sole in 2006 in memory of her niece Margaret Bowen McElreath, who died of a heart condition a few days after birth.
