We are Heart and Sole - Meet Laura Kuhlke

A mother of a child with a special heart, a friend and a part of the Heart and Sole Family.

I am Laura Kuhlke and this is what Heart and Sole means to me.

When given the question, what does Heart and Sole mean to me, many words crossed my mind as I thought about the events, the people, the hard work, and of course, the angel.   But one word, one emotion stands out among the rest.  Heart and Sole means hope.  Hope at the saddest of times.  Hope for normality in a new way of life. Hope for many years to come.

A family in the deepest sorrows longing to help others came together under a fearless leader to make a difference.  Since then members of Heart and Sole have given countless hours of time and energy to help raise funds for the Children’s Medical Center.  All in honor of Bowen and for the betterment of children and families living with heart disease.

As a mother of a heart child and a member of the Heart and Sole Board of Directors, Heart and Sole has given me hope.  It gives me hope as my son, Henry, leaves for Camp Strong Hearts knowing he will be surrounded by other children with “scarves” down their chests and the doctors and nurses that have taken care of him every step of our journey.  It gives me hope to see monies raised from Heart and Sole events donated across the CMC to different departments to enhance the already wonderful care of its patients.  It gives me hope to see a generous group of business and families join as sponsors to support such a worthy cause.

My wish is for all to witness the hope of the Heart and Sole Family and pay it forward.
